JAKARTA — Industrial Minister Airlangga Hartarto said, that the multinational technology corporation from United States, Apple, will build innovation center in Indonesia.
The investation value Apple will inject in Indonesia is worth of Rp. 100 billion Rupiah (worth of USD $7.6 million) to build three research centers (innovation center) in Indonesia for almost Rp 100 billion.
"(Invest value) is almost Rp 100 billion. This is going on process. On December they will decide it," said Airlangga on the 2016 Indonesianisme Summit event at Grand Sahid Jaya, Jakarta, Saturday (December 10 2016).

Airlangga continues, there is four city being considered by Apple to be build of research centers in Indonesia. "They can decide it, from the choices of four city," told him.
Therefore the four cities are Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Malang. "Malang is also one of the potential. So, this is good because we are not only software based, but also hardware based at the same time," spoke him.
Airlangga is think, the national industry growth for information and technology sector is already showed positive results. The industrial minister said that the coming of Apple to Indonesia will increase the growth of national component technology. "Because we must face the future by technology based economy," think him.
The Apple innovation center is have a goal to continuesly create more and more new digital technology, includes the research of application that can be used for its own production itself.
Airlangga think, what Apple is trying to do is because they are see pretty huge potential of Indonesian market. "Moreover we are the biggest country with most population in ASEAN," revealed him.
Based on the Industrial Ministry chart on 2014, the importation of cellular phone in Indonesia is reached 57,7 million units, the handheld computer is reached 59.000 units, and tablet computer reached 5,7 million units.
On the 2015, the importation of the products is start to replaced by the products made nationally, with the cellular phone importation reached 33 million units, handheld computer worth 18.000 units, and tablet computer as 4 million units.
By now, there is 17 local manufacturer standing that can build cellular phone product, handheld computer, and tablet computer.
